Clayton E. Bredlau, M.D., FACC

Dr. Bredlau, a native of Schenectady, NY, is an interventional cardiologist who has been practicing cardiology in Sarasota, Florida since 1986. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University and received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. He completed three years of internal medicine training at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Dr. Bredlau then moved to Atlanta, where he undertook a 4 year cardiology fellowship at Emory University, which included one year of specialized training in coronary angioplasty with Dr. Andreas Gruentzig, the physician who invented angioplasty. In his practice, Dr. Bredlau provides every patient with individual and compassionate care and focuses on preventative care, while offering comprehensive testing facilities including a nuclear stress lab, echo lab as well as vascular lab, which allows him to fully evaluate each patient's cardiovascular status. Dr. Bredlau is one of the most experienced interventional cardiologists in Southwest Florida, having performed thousands of cardiac catheterizations and highly complex angioplasties (balloon angioplasty, rotational and laser atherectomy and brachytherapy) and stent placements. He performs coronary, renal and peripheral artery procedures. He and his staff regularly attend seminars and conferences in order to stay abreast of new developments in the field of Cardiology. Dr. Bredlau has hospital privileges at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he rounds on his patients daily, as well as Doctor's Hospital. Dr. Bredlau is newly married and looking forward to starting a family. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, walking, reading, dancing, skiing and watching his favorite football team, the Tampa Bay Bucs. Dr. Bredlau is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology; he is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.

Mary N. Healy, M.S., A.R.N.P. - B.C.

Mary is originally from North Dakota and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Northern Colorado in 1978. She then moved to Sarasota and worked in the Intensive Care Unit of Sarasota Memorial Hospital for many years. Wanting to be able to contribute to treatment decisions for patients, she decided to become an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) and received her Master of Science degree from the University of South Florida. Mary has broad experiences in treating many cardiac conditions and has worked with Dr. Bredlau since 1998. They share the belief that educating their patients in the prevention, treatment and cause of their disease is a key factor to living the healthiest possible life. Mary loves to teach and also is a part time instructor in the Health Sciences department at Sarasota County Technical Institute. She is on the disaster response team for the American Red Cross. Mary is an avid reader and also enjoys exercising and keeping a beautiful native Florida plant garden and will be attempting her first organic vegetable garden in 2008/2009!

Carolyn B.Clark, M.S., M.P.H., A.R.N.P.

Carol Clark came to work for the Heart & Vascular of Sarasota in 2003 as a Nurse Practitioner and originally worked for Dr. Randy Hartman, but since his retirement is now working for Dr. Bredlau. She worked as an Intensive Care Nurse for many years including almost 16 years at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She has a dual Masters Degree in Nursing and Public Health which were attained from the University of South Florida. Carol is a cardiac care associate with the American College of Cardiology, a member of the Florida Nurses Association, and a member of the Sarasota Nurse Practitioner's Council.

Justina Granthon, M.S., A.R.N.P. - BC

Justina, better known as "Tina", graduated from the University of South Florida in 1997 with her Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. Her first nursing job was with Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fl. There, she worked on a medical/surgical telemetry unit and then lastly, on cardiac step-down; a 16-bed post open heart surgery unit. After working as an RN for approximately 3 years she returned to the University of South Florida to pursue her graduate degree in Nursing while continuing to work full-time. She graduated from USF with her Master's in Nursing in August of 2003. She obtained a position as an ARNP for a cardiologist with a large multi-physician practice in Bradenton. There she ran a Coumadin clinic, Pacemaker clinic and assisted the physician with caring for patients in all three Manatee County hospitals. In the spring of 2005 she was recruited to work for the Heart and Vascular Center of Sarasota by her longtime friend and now co-worker, Elizabeth Miller, ARNP. While at the Heart and Vascular Center, Tina has participated in multiple clinical trials as a Sub-Investigator. She has become a member of the National Lipid Association and the American College of Cardiology. Her specific interests within cardiology include hyperlipidemia management, arrhythmia treatment and management as well as congestive heart failure education and management. She has obtained over 40 hours of pacemaker/AICD training with Medtronic, Inc. She feels that every patient is an exciting challenge and truly finds enjoyment in treating, diagnosing and managing their care. Her real passion is prevention of cardiovascular disease and she finds this to be the most exciting. Tina is a Sarasota native. She lives in Sarasota with her husband, their dog Scooby and their cat Sophie. She and her husband love traveling, watching theater and enjoying our Suncoast beaches. Tina is also a certified Jazzercise Instructor and teaches regularly in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.

Annegret Bredlau, Office Administrator

Annegret Bredlau has been working at The Heart & Vascular Center for 9 years, and took on the role of Office Administrator in 2008. She grew up in Frankfurt/ Oder, Germany and came to the United States in 1995. She attended Humboldt University in Berlin and Europa - University "Viadrina" in Frankfurt/ Oder where she studied Foreign Languages and Law. In addition to making sure the office is running smoothly and efficiently, she is the New Patient liaison and assists new patients in setting up their initial appointments and obtaining copies of their medical records. Anny is married to Dr. Bredlau and enjoys music, art, travelling, cooking, working out as well as doing mosaics and other projects.
